I’ve had enough of Nike and their City Jerseys

Today, the Celtics showed the world what their “City Edition” jerseys are going to look like for this season. Now, we’d seen these leaked already on Twitter, and a lot of fans were very upset with the design. We as Celtics fans are really picky about uniforms, and aren’t always big on veering away from the classic green and white look. However, there have been solid alternate designs before. Obviously, the current black and green jerseys are a hit, last year’s city edition jerseys weren’t bad, and my personal favorites, the old St. Patrick’s day jerseys were always clean.

Now, I’m a big “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” kind of guy. The jerseys from last season were fine, everyone was okay with them, and the gold/yellow looked nice with the green. I want to know why Nike felt the need to take that design and completely mess with it.

I personally don’t hate these new uniforms, but they could’ve been much more appealing. All Nike had to do was leave the font alone and they would’ve been a hit. The Irish font isn’t terrible, but the numbers look much too small. Maybe I’m just too comfortable with the generic Celtics font, but the lettering is just too skinny and just looks really odd.

When the Celtics put out the tweet, the replies were kind of split on how they felt about the new jerseys.

Some were pleasantly surprised because of how awful these had looked in the leaks.

Let me know what you think in the replies!
