Clutch Tatum plays with Kamba icing it into a Walker Wiggle. Keys to Celtics win!

Celtics 105 Warriors 100 final:

Kemba Walker– 20 points 6/19 (14 of 20 in 4th) 5 reb 5 ast

Marcus Smart– 15 points 5/12 4 ast 3 reb guarded Russell for the most part (only 12 points in 25 minutes)

Jayson Tatum– 24 pts 8/23 8 reb

Jaylen Brown– 22 pts 9/17 8 reb

Daniel Theis– 7 pts 3/7 7 reb

Wow…I just can’t believe what I witnessed. I don’t know what was better, the Tatum steal on the jump ball to give Boston the lead or Kemba’s dagger to ice the game. Wow it’s so cool to see Kemba making that #8 jersey so fitting and then to nail a tough contested fade and to show the emotion afterwards with the iconic walker wiggle, no pun intended that was awesome. But before we get to the end of the game here’s what I saw.

Q1: The C’s struggled shooting early and found themselves down 15. D’Angelo Russell started hot but then become a ghost for the rest of the game 5/10 and 12 points (9 of 12 in the first)

Q2: The Celtics actually managed to have a good 2nd quarter, which is something we rarely say in today’s game as the C’s are 18th in 2nd quarter scoring. The Celtics started the quarter down 9 finished it up 1.

Q3: There was still some bad shooting as the team ended the night 40% from the field. Jaylen had 13 of his 22 in the 3rd pushing his streak of consecutive 20 points or more to 4, and is now averaging 24.8 on this road trip. The lead grew to a two possession game 76-71.

Q4: Now this is where it gets good. Alec Burks comes off the Warriors bench and had a productive 20 (7 in the 4th), but the young banged up Warriors were fighting all night. The C’s went down 5 with 2:37 to play but didn’t quit. Kemba makes it right back into a game with a quick 3 off a Theis screen. Theis later gets fouled would make 1-2. Next comes the unthinkable right? Of course it’s just a well timed Marcus Smart play keeping the ball alive after Thees missed the 2nd free throw. The play would be reviewed after being called out, was reversed and went into a jump ball situation. Knowing Willie Cauley Stein has the more hops to Theis, Tatum makes a high IQ move by initially looking like he’s going to be playing on Theis’ side for a rebound off the tip off, but times a quick move to find the ball directly in his path. This ultimately ends up driving Tatum to the bucket for a dunk giving the C’s a 1 point lead. Then after a Golden State miss Tatum goes right back to work and drives in nailing a nice foul line jumper. The C’s are up 3 now, Cardiac Kemba moment here we come, Kemba drives in then falls away fading into tough contested jumper NAILING it and then doing his best impression of Antoine Walker who wore #8 before Kemba with the WALKER WIGGLE. I immediately got goosebumps and that was the best feeling and moment of the game, he has taken his leadership and the Celtics tradition on his back and I am loving every moment. ICING the game away for the C’s as foul shots and time expired the win for Boston pushed their hot streak to 10 straight wins still having the best record in the league.

The Celtics were spreading the double digit scoring again with 4-5 starters over the mark Theis was 3 shy of 10.
